Reading is Fun! Singing a song by Francie Dillon...

My good friend Cindy is good friends with national award-winning singer/storyteller and educator Francie Dillon.  Cindy has known Francie for years and has watched her progress throughout her career.  She always has such wonderful things to say about her.  I was very fortunate several weeks ago to finally be able to take my kiddos to one of her concerts.  We had such a wonderful time!

When we started planning our latest Tent Town, Cindy suggested using Francie's song, introduced in the video below, to gather the kids together at the beginning.  It worked perfectly!  Primus, Cindy, and I started singing it while I laid out foam squares for the kids to sit on.  By the time we finished singing, they were sitting and giving us full attention.  There were a few children left who were hovering nervously near their moms by the tents so we started singing again and coaxed a couple more over.  When we sang the second time, several of the seated children sang with us.  It was awesome!

Thank you for being you and doing what you do.  And thank you especially for this storytime song.  It is so simple and catchy and my kids have been singing it for days!  We will definitely be using it at our next Reading Tent Town event!

  1. It just does not get any better then watching and hearing children sing. I am sure Francie Dillon will be thrilled to see this. I am so proud of the kids for singing this song. Yes please do take time to read to your child everyday. Thank you Shirley for doing Tent Town. It is so much fun to see the children excited for stories.
